Mar 15, 2017

The nation's top commander of all U.S. Air Force recruiting activities, both in America and abroad, paid a special visit to Alabama State University on Monday. Major General Garrett Harencak serves as the commander of U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Harencak’s message focused on “Leading, Serving and Empowering”, he says his message is a great opportunity for students to get motivated about being the next generation of leaders.

In addition to Harencak’s visit, a new partnership was announced which focuses on collaborative efforts based on student recruitment for the University and the Air Force. “I’m proud to announce a new partnership with Alabama State University, the first one that we’ve established at a University,” said Harencak. “This partnership will serve as a model for similar relationships at universities across the country.”

General Harencak also had a chance to speak with military veterans during  a Veterans Appreciation Luncheon  followed by an address he gave to an audience that included not only ASU students and cadets from Detachment O19, but also cadets from Montgomery’s Jefferson Davis and Sidney Lanier High Schools.
