MPD Investigates Apparent Murder-Suicide

Montgomery Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.  Authorities say the bodies of an adult male and adult female were found in a residence late Tuesday night at about 11:45 p.m.  Montgomery Police did not reveal the address but said the two victims died of gunshot wounds.  Authorities said the investigation indicated the adult male fatally shot his wife, then took his own life.  The victims' names were not released.  

Legislative Agenda

First Lady Dianne Bentley unveiled her domestic violence legislative agenda at a news conference Tuesday in Montgomery.  Mrs. Bentley says the Domestic Violence Capital Improvement program would include improving the living conditions of the state's shelters and strengthening orders of protection.  The legislation is being sponsored by State Representative Mike Jones of Andalusia and State Senator Clay Scofield of Guntersville.  

Mural Unveiling

Mayor Todd Strange was joined by Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton Dean and representatives from the City-County Public Library Wednesday to unveil a mural commemorating the Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March.  The artwork is located at the Rufus A. Lewis Regional Library on Mobile Highway.  Chairman Dean says the artwork couldn't be located at a better place.  Students created the mural under the direction of Muriel Robinson Peck, an art teacher at George Washington Carver High School.  

Death Row

An Alabama death row inmate has died while awaiting execution.  Alabama Department of Corrections officials said in a statement that 56-year-old David Eugene Davis died early Sunday morning at the Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore.  Officials say Davis was in the prison's infirmary and appears to have died of natural causes.  The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has taken custody of the man's body.
