According to a report from the Alabama Tourism Department, travelers spend around $777 million in Montgomery County last year and were responsible for almost 12,000 jobs. That placed Montgomery among the top five counties in the state with the largest travel-related expenditures. Baldwin County came in first, collecting $3.9 billion dollars in travel dollars. Next came Jefferson County with $1.8 billion, then Madison, Mobile and Montgomery counties. The numbers represent a more than seven percent increase in travel-related spending in Alabama with a similar percentage increase in Montgomery.
