Verizon Wireless is adding 400 jobs in Alabama, mostly in the Huntsville area.  Verizon executives joined Governor Robert Bentley Tuesday to announce that more than 300 customer service jobs will be created at the company's state headquarters in Huntsville.  The state is not providing any financial incentives to get new jobs. 

Dorm Shooting

A Montgomery woman is being held in the Dallas County Jail after she was charged with firing a gun into a school building.  Selma Police Lt. Curtis Muhannad said officers arrested 23-year-old Ashley Henley Tuesday.  Lt. Muhannad said the shooting incident occurred April 25th on the campus of Concordia College.  Selma Police said Henley is accused of firing gun shots into a dorm room at the college.  No one was injured.  Henley was ordered held without bond. 

Teacher Indicted

An Elmore County grand jury has indicted a former Stanhope Elmore High School teacher and coach.  33-year-old Jeffrey Stanton of Montgomery is charged with having sexual relations with a student.  Stanton was originally charged with first-degree rape following his arrest in February.  Stanton is due back in court for arraignment on May 13th. 

Golden Dragon

A major industry that could help reshape west Alabama's struggling economy is poised to begin operations at the end of the month.  The Golden Dragon Copper Plant in Wilcox County is scheduled to hold a grand opening on May 28th.  The WVAS Perspectives talk show will broadcast the weekly show from Camden, Alabama this evening.  Host Robb Taylor will interview various Wilcox County officials and citizens.  The Perspectives talk show airs at 6 p.m. on WVAS-FM.
