More Information Released on Helicopter Accident That Killed a Wetumpka Man

Montgomery, AL – The National Transportation Safety Board
has released a preliminary report on a helicopter crash that killed
one Federal Aviation Administration employee and critically injured
another.
Preliminary reports, however, don't speculate on the cause of
crashes. It could be months before officials say why the chopper
went down in a Jackson neighborhood Sept. 1.
The report says there was communication with an air traffic
controller while the pilots practiced maneuvers at a Jackson
airport. It doesn't indicate they declared an emergency or told the
controller there was a problem.
Charles Farmer, of Wetumpka, Ala., was killed in the accident.
Larry Wells, of Crystal Springs, Miss., remains hospitalized.
Both men were experienced pilots.
