Montgomery's 11th Homicide

Gun violence over the weekend claimed the life of a young male.  Montgomery Police say 24-year-old Richard Davis of Montgomery was fatally shot late Friday night.  Officers were called to Jackson Hospital about 10:30 p.m. on a report of a male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.  Davis later died from the injury.  Montgomery Police Detectives say no arrests were made.  Authorities said Davis also was a victim last December in multiple shooting that occurred at the now closed Centennial Hill Bar and Grill. 

Deadly Accident

Alabama State Troopers say a Montgomery died in a Friday evening crash on Interstate 65 in Shelby County.  46-year-old Natalie Perez was killed when the SUV she was riding in overturned and crashed into another vehicle.  The deadly wreck occurred just before 7 p.m. Friday on I-65 near the Shelby County Airport.  Troopers said none of the six passengers in the SUV were wearing seatbelts.  The driver of the SUV and an 8-year-old passenger were taken to hospitals in Birmingham with serious injuries. 

Escape Prisoner

The search continues for an escapee from the federal prison camp on Maxwell Air Force Base.  The U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies have been looking for Patrick Clark of Ripley, Mississippi.  A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said Clark was discovered missing last Thursday from the minimun security facility.  He was serving a 30 month sentence for bank fraud and mail fraud and was projected to be released in July of 2015.  Clark is a white male, about 6'2'' 205 pounds.  He has brown hair and brown eyes. 

Selma Movie

Filming for the movie "Selma" get underway today in west Alabama city.  The movie is about civil rights leader Martin Luther King Junior.  The movie crew filmed in Atlanta last week.  Also media mogul Oprah Winfrey is in Selma for the filming.  The Montgomery Advertiser reports that Winfrey will play a supporting role in the film.  Filming is also planned in Montgomery.  The Alabama Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge will be closed today through Thursday to allow filming for the movie.
