Montgomery Minority Business helps rebuild Downtown

Montgomery’s Minority Business Initiative spotlighted the success of a local company during a special event on Thursday at the Kress Building site downtown. Thomas Construction Company is one of the participants in the Minority Business program and is assisting in the revitalization of Dexter Avenue.

Retired Judge Charles Price and Thomas Construction Company, owner Alonza Thomas say the partnership with Brasfield & Gorrie; prove that the program is working. Price said that the same initiative is working all over the country and the efforts help bring minorities into the economic health for other cities. Officials say the initiative offers small businesses a chance to get into major project. Thomas says it’s a great opportunity to be able to work on a project of this scale and he’s fortunate enough to working alongside with Brasfield & Gorrie because they’ve always had a good working relationship with each other.

The Kress building is one of many other buildings undergoing renovation in Montgomery’s historic Dexter Avenue.
