Montgomery father charged in son's murder

By Father charged with capital murder, ordered held without bond

Montgomery, AL – - The Montgomery Police Department says a
father has been charged with capital murder in the death of his
2-year-old son.
Police say officers were called to a home in Montgomery Tuesday
morning after a 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive.
Police say in a news release that the child, Preston Katan, was
found lying in his bed and was pronounced dead of unknown causes.
Officers say the child's father, 25-year-old Jonathan Katan,
said he found his son wedged between the mattress and the bed's
bumper guard.
Police say an autopsy revealed that the child died from
blunt-force injuries to the head, and that the death was a
homicide. They say the father was interviewed and then arrested,
and is being held in the Montgomery County jail without bond.
