Firearms and Ammunition

An Alabama police chief is accused of selling a handgun and ammunition to an illegal immigrant.  Court records show Franklin Police Chief Michael Clements was arrested Thursday after being indicted by a grand jury on July 8th for selling a .357-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun to a person Clements allegedly knew was living in the United States illegally in July 2014.  Clements is accused of selling the same person 22 rounds of 38.-caliber ammunition on May 8, 2015.

No Summerfest

The city of Millbrook's annual Summerfest will not be coming back this year.  The festival, which had been held in the town for more than a decade, was initially scheduled to happen the weekend of July 25th, but it has now been canceled.  Mayor Al Kelly said he made the decision to cancel Summerfest a couple of months ago.  The mayor cites overcrowding and safety issues as reasons for cancelling the event.
