Montg. Co. appraiser resigns, files suit against revenue official

By Ex- Montgomery county appraiser files suit , claims racial overtones

Montgomery, Al – - Montgomery County chief appraiser Jane
Mardis has resigned, and says her boss created a racially hostile
work environment.
Mardis, whose last day as chief appraiser was May 7, has filed
an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claim against Revenue
Commissioner Janet Buskey.
Buskey, who is black, deferred comment to county attorney Tyrone
Means, who said Mardis' claim sounded like a complaint about a
differing management philosophy.
Mardis, who is white, said in her letter of resignation that
Buskey and chief clerk Allyson Holland stripped her of duties,
privileges and access necessary to fulfill her responsibilities.
Buskey defeated Mardis in the race for revenue commissioner in
2008.
