Mobile Man To Stand Trial For Body in Freezer

Mobile, Alabama –
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A judge has set an Oct. 19 trial date for
part-time evangelist Anthony Hopkins, charged with murder in the
death of his wife, whose body was found in a freezer at the
couple's home.
Judge John Lockett set the trial date Monday during Hopkins'
arraignment.
Prosecutors claim the 37-year-old Hopkins killed his 36-year-old
wife, Arletha, then stuffed her body in a deep freezer four years
ago. The freezer was kept in the house where Hopkins was raising
his eight children.
Hopkins, who has pleaded not guilty, was arrested last year in
Jackson in Clarke County after preaching at a revival.
Hopkins also faces rape, sodomy, and incest charges involving a
family member.
