Observances were held across Alabama Monday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Montgomery held its annual parade along Dexter Avenue followed by a rally on the State Capitol steps. Residents overcame cold and windy conditions to honor Dr. King. Today, Alabama State University holds it annual Citywide King Convocation. That will be held at 11 o'clock at the ASU Dunn-Oliver Acadome. University President Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd will offer remarks and a keynote address comes from Rev. Matthew L. Whatley, the pastor of Reid Temple A.M.E. church in Glenn Dale, Maryland.
