Memorial Service for Former Lt. Governor Lucy Baxley Set

A Celebration of the life of Lucy Baxley is planned for Wednesday in Montgomery. The former Lt. Governor died Friday at the age of 78.  It's been announced that visitation is taking place at two locations on two different days. The first occurs Tuesday evening in Pelham from 6 to 8 o’clock. Then on Wednesday, visitation is set for 9 to 11am in Montgomery at Frazer United Methodist Church on the Atlanta Highway. That is also where a Celebration Service in honor of Baxley is being held immediately following visitation. Lucy Baxley was Alabama’s first female lt. governor. Her four-year term began in 2003. She also served as state treasurer and president of the Alabama Public Service Commission during her political career. Baxley was the Democratic nominee for Governor in 2006 but lost to Republican Bob Riley.
