Memorial Day Weekend Events

The Memorial Day Weekend will be marked by several events in the river region.  First off, the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System will host its Memorial Day program at 11 o'clock today at the Perry Hill Road campus.  At that same time, the city of Montgomery is unveiling a monument to the Korean War.  The new monument is being dedicated at the World War II park downtown at the corner of Washington and Lee streets.  Maxwell Air Force Base is holding two events.  Saturday a carpool will depart the 42nd Air Base Wing headquarters for the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.  That's where a Memorial program is scheduled.  Then, on Monday, around 100 veterans are being escorted to the Bill Nichols Veterans Administration Home in Alexander City for a ceremony.  Finally, the city of Prattville is joining the American Legion Post 122 for a Memorial Day program Monday at 11 o'clock at the Autauga County Courthouse.
