Montgomery, AL – - Alabama Sen. Wendell Mitchell of Luverne
will miss the remainder of the legislative session due to an
illness.
The Democratic senator's son has sent a letter to legislators
saying that his father is being treated at a hematology clinic and
will need four to six weeks to return to his normal duties. The
legislative session ends April 22.

well. The 69-year-old senator is serving his seventh term and is
seeking re-election.
