Local Archivist Recognized by Authors

Montgomery,Alabama – A Montgomery resident is being recognized for her life's work in a new book titled "African American National Biography,Volume 6".

Dr. Gwen Patton says she is elated to learn that she has been included int he book featuring many civil rights activists. Dr. Patton recently shared with WVAS some of her recollections of her work with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in the form of the Poor People's Campaign.

Dr. Patton remains true to her work as an activist by recently serving on the Selma to Montgomery Historic Trail Advisory Council.

The book, "African American National Biography,Volume 6" was penned by Harvard University professors Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham.
