By Ex-mayor nets $1.5 million in winnings at Macon County casino, suit says
Montgomery, AL – - New claims in a Macon County lawsuit say
that former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford pocketed more than $1.5
million in winnings from Milton McGregor's VictoryLand electronic
bingo casino.
The Birmingham News reports on the lawsuit Sunday. It alleges
that Langford won the money in more than 500 jackpots at the
Shorter casino from 2006 2008.
Lawyers for Sandra Howard amended a 2009 lawsuit on Friday. The
Tuskegee resident brought the suit against VictoryLand and its
various entities set up to operate Quincy's 777 Casino, an
electronic bingo center at the dog track in Shorter.
According to the lawsuit, McGregor and others "arranged for
Langford to win more than 521 substantial jackpots representing
more than $1,500,000 by manipulating and controlling bingo games."
Efforts to reach Langford and an attorney for VictoryLand for
comment were unsuccessful.
