The Late Coretta Scott King Receive Alabama Honor

Marion, Alabama – The late civil rights activist, Coretta Scott King, has been inducted into the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame.

Coretta Scott King, the wife of slain civil rights leader, The Reverend Martin Luther King Junior, helped her husband in his efforts to end segregation and win voting rights for Blacks in South.

Mrs. King, who died in 2006 at the age of 78, was reared in Marion, Alabama.

During the ceremony Thursday, Bernice King, the youngest of the King's children unveiled a plaque erected at Judson College honoring her mother.
