Kris Tamulis is the winner of the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic in Prattville, her first LPGA title after 11 years on the tour.  Tamulis played 29 holes Sunday in the twice-delayed tournament.  She closed with a 65 to beat Yani Tseng and Austin Ernst by a stroke.  The 34-year-old former Florida State player finished at 17 under 271 on the Senator course.  Tamulis pockets a $195,000 first prize.

Inmate Deaths

Disease and suicide are claiming inmates on Alabama's death row faster than the executioner.  With Alabama's capital punishment mechanism on hold for more than two years because of legal challenges and a shortage of drugs for lethal injections, five of the state's death row inmates have died without ever seeing the inside of the execution chamber.  Prison officials say three inmates have died of natural causes since the state's last execution on July 25th, 2013.  Two others committed suicide by hanging themselves.  There are 189 people currently on death row--the state is trying to resume executions.

Traffic Accidents

State Troopers are investigating weekend traffic fatalities in Wilcox and Pike counties.  The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said an Alexander City man died Saturday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Wilcox County.  24-year-old Issac Taylor was killed around 9:15 p.m. Saturday when the care he was driving crashed into a tree on Alabama 10, about five miles east of Camden.  Troopers said Taylor was thrown from the vehicle, he was not wearing a seat belt.

A 61-year-old Troy man was killed late Friday night in a single vehicle crash on Pike County Road 1166.  Troopers identified the victim as Willie Ray Merritt of Troy.

Tax Fraud

Federal prosecutors in Montgomery continue to crack down on identity theft and tax fraud.  The latest indictments involves a postal service mail carrier in east Alabama.  Elizabeth Grant of Seal was arrested Friday after a federal grand jury indicted her on multiple counts of mail fraud, aggravated identity theft, embezzling mail and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government.  The Justice Department alleges that Grant participated in a scheme with others to steal the identities of more than 700 Alabama residents and used the names to file false federal tax returns for 2012 and claim more than $1.5 million in refunds.  No trial date was announced for Grant.

Blue Bell

The wait is over for ice cream lovers, Blue Bell's frozen treats will return to store shelves Monday in parts of Alabama and Texas.  Blue Bell is looking to bounce back from a listeria scare over the summer that prompted a nationwide recall of its products.  Blue Bell's plant in Sylacauga, Alabama is the only facility that has resumed production.  Others plants in Texas and Oklahoma remain idle.
