By New court date for west Ala. prep football coach
Jackson, MS – A west Alabama high school football coach
will stand trial Jan. 3 on federal charges of child molestation and
trying to get the victim to lie to authorities investigating the
incidents.
Dwight Bowling has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
U.S. District Judge W. Allen Pepper, in an order Thursday, set
the new trial date at the request of defense attorney Christy R.
McCoy. Bowling was initially scheduled for a Nov. 8 trial in
Greenville.
McCoy said she needed more time to prepare. Prosecutors did not
oppose the new date.
Bowling, who lives in Itawamba County, was arrested Sept. 17 as
he drove home from a victory by his Sulligent, Ala., Blue Devils
football team.
He's on administrative leave from his job.
