Judge says AG has final say over gov. gambling task force

By Atty Gen, gov to hold meeting over electronic bingo

Montgomery, AL – - Attorney General Troy King and Gov. Bob
Riley plan to meet to sort out legal issues in an Alabama court
fight over electronic bingo machines.
King aide Chris Bence said the meeting will be held Wednesday
afternoon. There was no immediately comment on it from Riley, who
has been at odds with King on electronic bingo.
The meeting was announced Monday after a judge in Birmingham
ruled that the attorney general has legal authority over the
governor's antigambling task force. The judge ordered King to
advise him by March 22 if he supports the task force's efforts to
shut down electronic bingo casinos.
Riley called the ruling "judicial activism at its worst." An
appeal is planned.
