A Jefferson County Judge Will Run for the State Supreme Court

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – (AP) - Jefferson County Circuit Judge Mac
Parsons says he's going to run for the Alabama Supreme Court next
year, but he hasn't decided which of the three races he will enter.
Three seats currently held by Republicans are up for election
next year. Justices Mike Bolin and Tom Parker are seeking
re-election, but Justice Patti Smith is not. Parsons, a Democrat,
says he will decide later which of the seats he will seek.
Parsons has served 11 years as a circuit judge. Before that, he
spent 16 years in the state Senate, where he passed the state's
consumer protection law. He also blew the whistle on legislators
hiding pork projects in state agencies' appropriations.
