Hubbard's 23 Count Indictment

Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard has been indicted by a grand jury and now faces 23 class B felonies, including using his office for personal gain and soliciting things of value.    The 52-year-old Auburn legislator was charged after a year long investigation.  Hubbard says he's done nothing wrong and has never used his office improperly.

WalletHub Study

A new study ranks Montgomery among the lowest in the country for restaurant affordability and diversity.  The WalletHub study used 18 criteria to arrive at their findings, categories like Restaurants per capita, ratio of full-service restaurants to fast-food establishments, and average beer and wine price.  Meg Lewis is the Director of Tourism and Special Projects with  the Montgomery Area of Chamber of Commerce's Convention and Visitors Bureau.  She says the study does not match what the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association had to say when they visited the city in the spring.  She also notes that the study only took into account the businesses within a five-mile radius of a city's downtown area.  Lewis says that would vary greatly from city to city.  Montgomery came in 147th overall out of the 150 most populous cities in the U.S.

Deadly Wreck

Two people were killed Sunday afternoon in a single vehicle crash in Russell County.  State Troopers said 25-year-old Jerry Baker and 18-year-old Dakota Lancour, both of Seale, died when the car they were riding in overturned on Boswell Road, seven miles west of Phenix City.  Troopers said Baker and Lancour were ejected from the car and were not using seat belts.  Troopers said the crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
