Holiday Travel

Alabama highways will be congested over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  State Troopers say they will enforce traffic laws and motorists can expect to encounter roadway checkpoints.  Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett says a special emphasis will be placed on seatbelt and child restraint laws.  Sgt. Jarrett said of the 11 people killed in traffic crashes last weekend, seven were not wearing a seatbelt.  

Swamp Dolls

Twenty-one dolls on bamboo stakes were found in a swamp in Autauga County.  Why the dolls were in a swamp is a mystery.  With on explanation, some people say its creepy.  Autauga County sheriff's deputies traveled by canoe into Bear Creek Swamp on Tuesday to recover the porcelain dolls, whose faces and hair were painted white.  Autauga County Chief Deputy Joe Sedinger said authorities were unable to contact the timber company that owns the land, located off County Road 3.  

Barlow's Termination

Reggie Barlow and his attorney Donald Jackson are speaking out for the first time since Barlow was fired as head football coach at Alabama State University.  The ASU Trustee Board voted not to renew Barlow's contract.  Montgomery attorney Donald Jackson said Barlow's termination.  

Lottery Winner

A Montgomery woman is $48 million dollars richer today, courtesy of the Florida Lotto Jackpot.  Carolyn Bell bought her winning ticket at a liquor store in Westville, Florida, near the Alabama line.  Bell won the drawing on November 19th.  Florida Lottery officials said she elected to take a lump sum payment of more than $32.6 million dollars.    Bell said she and her husband plan to retire.
