Health Department Urges Caution in Flood Areas

Montgomery, Alabama –
(AP) - The Alabama Department of Public health
urges Alabamians to use caution in flood waters because it may
contain fecal material from overflowing sewage systems.
In a press release, the department warned that flooding from
Thursday's torrential rainfall across the state may result in
contaminants being washed into streams, creeks and rivers.
Those with open cuts or sores are advised to keep them as clean
by washing well with soap to control infection.
Any fish caught from flood waters should be cooked thoroughly
before eating.
