Gun Packing Employee in Custody

Law enforcement personnel converged on an east Montgomery business Friday after a tip was received about an employee with a gun.  Employees at DAS North America facility on Industrial Park Boulevard were evacuated while police investigated.  Montgomery County Sheriff D.T. Marshall says it was determined that a temp employee had apparently argued with a fellow worker Thursday and brought the gun to work Friday.  The gun was found in a backpack left outside the building.  The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Amadi Webster of Montgomery. Charges are still pending.

Deadly Robbery

A Montgomery police detective says a Faulkner University student was fatally shot when he rushed a homeowner in an attempt to rob him of marijuana.  Al.com reports that Detective Guy Naquin testified Friday in a preliminary hearing for three other Faulkner University students.  They face murder charges accusing them of participating in a crime that resulted in a death.  The detective said Brooks, a junior varsity football player from Chelsea, was found dead December 3rd a block from the robbery site with a bandanna still covering his face.  He said two of the other students told police they planned the robbery before leaving the Faulkner campus.  District Judge Troy Massey ruled that the murder charges against the three students should be forwarded to a grand jury.

Body Cameras

Several law enforcement agencies in Alabama have joined the national trend to equip officers with high-tech body cameras.  Montgomery County Sheriff-elect Derrick Cunningham is convinced that body cam technology protects both officers and citizens.  Police officers in Selma and Prattville are wearing body cameras.  The Montgomery Police Department is testing several models.
