Governor To Legislators, Time Is Running Out

Governor Robert Bentley is warning legislators that they are running out of time in this session to address a budget shortfall.  The governor made the comments Tuesday after the Alabama House delayed debate on several Republican backed tax bills aimed at solving the General fund budget crisis.  The largest of the revenue plan is a 25 cent per  pack cigarette tax hike.  Some Republican lawmakers have said they will vote to reject the tax bills that were introduced by their caucus.  

Missing Mother

CrimeStoppers of Central Alabama and the Montgomery Police Department are looking for a missing woman who they say could be in danger.  The mother of 21-year-old Kadiajah Williams reported her missing on Sunday.  Williams who resides on Dilworth Road was last seen with her boyfriend Anthony Bell.  Police say Bell has a violent history, investigators fear that this may be a domestic violence case.  Bell may be driving a white, possibly 2014 or 2015 Dodge Charger.  CrimeStoppers has posted a photograph of Miss Williams on their website.  If you have information on her whereabouts, please call Montgomery police of CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.  

Train Strikes Boy

Authorities in Dallas County say an autistic boy was killed after being struck by a train in Plantersville.  Dallas County Sheriff's officials said the boy was playing on the tracks in Plantersville when a train hit him Tuesday morning near County Road 63.  Deputies said the train's operator saw the child from hundreds of yards away but was unable to stop in time.  The boy's identify has not been released.  Investigators say one of the boy's parents was at home when he was hit and authorities are investigating why he was unsupervised outside.  

Worker Pleads Guilty

A former Autauga County district attorney's office worker has pleaded guilty to theft and ethics charges.  54-year-old Lisa Noland of Wetumpka pleaded guilty of theft of property and use of an official position for personal gain.  An indictment issued in April said Nolan used her position to steal more that $2,500 while she worked in the office's court referral program.  Circuit Judge Ben Fuller set Nolan's sentencing hearing for June 5th.  

New Fair Date

The Alabama National Fair has been moved to a new start date.  General Manager Randy Stephenson says this year's fair will be held October 30th through November 8th.  Stephenson said fair-goers can expect an improved midway, bigger carnival rides and an expanded livestock show that could draw participates from neighboring states.
