Governor Declares A State of Emergency Ahead of Winter Weather

The governor has declared a state of emergency ahead of a winter storm expected to bring a mix of snow, ice and freezing rain.  Governor Robert Bentley has authorized 250 Alabama National Guard personnel to respond to any emergency requests for assistance.  National Weather Service meteorologist  Kevin Laws tells WVAS the winter storm is taking aim at a large section of north Alabama.  Laws enforcement agencies also have a plan in place to respond to stranded drivers.  The wintry weather is expected to enter north Alabama today and move out of the state around midnight.  

Suspects Identified

Authorities in Millbrook have identified the four of the five males who were allegedly involved in an attempted burglary that left one dead in a Millbrook subdivision.  A'donte Washington of Montgomery was killed in a shootout with police late Monday morning.  Three others, Jaderrion Hardy, Jhavarske Jackson, both 18, and 17-year-old Anthony Washington, all of Montgomery are each charged with murder, burglary and theft.  A juvenile faces similar charges, his name was withheld due to his age.  The State Bureau of Investigation is handling the inquiry because the shooting involved a police officer.  

Bloody Discovery

Police in Selma say a woman found covered in blood on the side of a road on Sunday has died.  Selma authorities said the female was found by a motorist near the intersection of old Montgomery Highway and Dallas County Road 74 late Sunday morning.  Police said the woman died from a head injury and her death is being investigated as a homicide.  Selma Police say anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 866-442-7463.  

Tuskegee Jobs

A comprehensive recycling and manufacturing facility is coming to Tuskegee.  Greenwood Global has announced plans to hire 200 workers to fill positions.  The company says it will conduct interviews for the jobs as early as next week.  Greenwood Global President Warren Crawley said the facility will be built in the Tuskegee Commerce Park on Notasulga Highway near Moton Field.  Job interviews will be conducted on Friday, February 27th and March 6th at the Tuskegee Municipal Complex.
