Governor Considers Calling Special Sessions

Montgomery, Alabama – (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley says he will call a special session of the Legislature to address financial problems with the state's prepaid college tuition plan if legislators develop a consensus about what to do and assure him it will pass.
Riley said Thursday reaching a consensus won't be easy.
The Legislature ended its regular session last week without
providing any bailout for the program, but it did pass a resolution
asking the state pension fund to do a financial study of the
program. Riley said Thursday he supports doing that study.
