Girls State Inauguration

More than 300 high school girls welcomed Governor Robert Bentley to their 2014 Girls State Inauguration Thursday.  Bentley spoke to the young ladies about education, leadership and current government issues.  Bentley encouraged the participants to strive for excellence while enjoying life.  The goal of the program is to teach students more about the functions of local and state government. 

Legionella Testing

University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital officials say a ninth patient has tested positive for the legionella bacteria, which can lead to a type of pneumonia.  Authorities say two of the eight patients who initially tested positive have died though the cause of death in both cases remains unclear. 

Bill Cosby

Comedian Bill Cosby is coming to Montgomery.  Al.com reports the long time comic's "Far From Finished" tour will make a stop at the Montgomery Performing Arts Center on October 24th.  Bill Cosby has entertained legions of fans over the years through Emmy- winning TV shows, cartoons and best-selling books. 

Guilty Plea

Federal prosecutors say a former secretary of the Ku Klux Klan has pleaded guilty to perjury in a case involving a cross burning in Ozark.  Prosecutors say Pamela Morris lied to a federal grand jury about a cross burning in 2009 involving her son that targeted an African-American neighborhood.
