Brooks Retires

Montgomery County District Attorney Ellen Brooks is leaving the post she has held since 1993.  She made the announcement Tuesday.  While it may seen abrupt, Brooks says she has been contemplating retirement for quite some time.  Governor Robert Bentley has appointed Chief Deputy District Attorney Daryl Bailey as her replacement.  Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Charles Price says Bailey has the experience to step right in.  Brooks began her career in the District Attorney's office 37 years ago as a prosecutor.  Deputy District Attorney Azzie Taylor is being promoted to fill Bailey's position as Chief Deputy District Attorney.  Taylor is a 1998 graduate of Alabama State University where she studied Criminal Justice.
