By Congressional hopefuls attack Bobby Bright for backing Obama policies
Montgomery, Al – - The four conservative Montgomery
residents running for the Republican nomination in southeast
Alabama's 2nd Congressional District have more to say about
one-term congressman Bobby Bright than they do about each other.
The Republican candidates say the Democratic incumbent has not
done enough to fight health care reform and other policies of
Democratic President Barack Obama.
Bright, who isn't opposed in the June 1 primary, is the first
Democrat to represent the district since 1964. The seat is expected
to be targeted as Republicans seek to gain seats in the U.S. House
in 2010.
The Republicans seeking a chance to challenge Bright are
Montgomery businessman and tea party activist Rick Barber,
Montgomery City Councilwoman Martha Roby, state school board member
Stephanie Bell and former U.S. Marine John "Fighting Beau"
McKinney.
