Former State Democratic Party Chairman Dies

A former chairman of the Alabama's Democratic Party passed away on Sunday.  Redding Pitt served as chairman from 2011 to 2005 after serving as U.S. Attorney in Montgomery for seven years.  His law partner Ken Riley gave notice of Pitt's death.  Current Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy Worley says the party has lost a staunch supporter.  Worley says Pitt was currently serving as a vice chairman of the state organization.  He had also been with the Birmingham-based law firm of Farris, Riley and Pitt since 2001.
