Former Doctor Found Guilty Again

A former doctor has been found guilty for a second time in a murder for hire scheme.  David Nash was convicted of felony murder Thursday in the death of Ralph McNeil, who was also known as critter man because he trapped unwanted animals.  Authorities have said Nash's girlfriend was in a custody dispute with McNeil, her ex-boyfriend, which prompted the two to pay a pair of cousins about $9,000 to kill the man.  The woman has been convicted of murder.  In January 2014, a Montgomery County judge ordered a new trial because Nash's attorneys said two members of the jury lied when the defense was selecting a panel.  Nash was sentenced in the first trial to life in prison.

Johnson Indictment

An Autauga County man has been indicted on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of his cousin.  39-year-old Larry Johnson of Plantersville was indicted by a grand jury recently. He is charged in the March murder of 37-year-old Morris O'Neal Davis of Shiloh.  Officials say alcohol played a role in the shooting.

Abortion Request

A federal judge is ordering a hearing after an Alabama prisoner dropped her request to obtain an abortion.  The judge told authorities to have the woman in court for a hearing Friday morning in Florence.  The judge issued the order Thursday after the unidentified woman filed a sworn statement saying she had changed her mind and no longer wants permission for a trip outside the Lauderdale County jail to end her pregnancy.

 Howard Arrest

State Representative Ralph Howard was arrested Sunday in Greensboro for allegedly using a shotgun to shoot out two tires on his wife's car.  Greensboro Police Chief Mike Hamilton told the Sumter County Record-Journal that Howard was arrested without incident, and spent one night in the Hale County Jail before making bond.  Howard is charged with domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and harassment.  This is not Howard's first run in with the law.  In 2013, Howard was charged with DUI.
