Five Die in Two Vehicle Crash

Authorities say five people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Macon County over the weekend.  Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Corporal Jess Thornton says the crash involved victims from Alabama and Georgia.  The accident occurred Saturday evening when two SUVs collided on U.S. Highway 80 near the 185 mile marker.  One of the vehicles caught fire and overturned.  Thornton says 31-year-old Curtis Jay McCurdy of Opelika, 26-year-old Kyla Yarbrough and 36-year-old Michelle Smith, both of Tuskegee, 25-year-old Luciano Tover and 29-year-old Jorge Banda, both of Tifton, Georgia all died in the accident.  All of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.  No other information has been released.
