By Homeland Security officials to inspect Ala businesses for illegal workers
Montgomery, AL – - The federal government will inspect
hiring records of 180 employers in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama,
Arkansas and Tennessee to check for compliance with immigration
laws and regulations.
That's according to the National Federation of Independent
Business.
The business group says the inspections will be performed by
Homeland Security's division of immigration customs enforcement.
Technical violations carry fines of up to $1,100 each. Knowingly
hiring an undocumented worker - and filling out forms to hide the
employment - carry fines of up to $3,200 for each violation.
