Elderly murder suspect returned to Elmore Co lockup

By prosecutor says 81-year-old suspect violated bond

Wetumpka, Al – - An 81-year-old man charged with capital
murder is back in the Elmore County Jail after prosecutors say he
violated his bond agreement and went on a gambling spree.
District Attorney Randall Houston says Paul Norman Jones of
Wetumpka was released in last November because of a heart condition
and was granted permission to travel to Virginia with his son to
receive treatment.
Houston says prosecutors learned Jones has been living in Auburn
and arrested him Tuesday for violating his $25,000 bond.
Houston says Jones went on a gambling spree last weekend in
Biloxi, Miss.
Tom Azar, Jones' attorney, said he had just received documents
in the case and could not comment.
Jones allegedly shot and killed 85-year-old Frank Barrett with a
shotgun during a dispute with other neighbors.
