Evergreen, AL – Conecuh County District Attorney Tommy Chapman says state and local law enforcement officials descended on Evergreen to arrest 20 people indicted on drug distribution charges. Chapman said the arrests Friday followed a yearlong undercover investigation. Officers were still searching for six more suspects indicted in a special session of the Conecuh County grand jury held Thursday. Chapman said most of the suspects had prior records. He said potential 2-to-20-year sentences could be increased since many of the drug buys happened within three miles of schools, hospitals and nursing homes.
