A downtown business owner wants open container ordinance reconsidered

Jan 3, 2018

A suspension of Montgomery’s open container policy went into effect on January 1. City officials have cited a number of meetings with business owners, residents and public safety leaders in which concerns were expressed over noise and safety. Not all downtown merchants are happy with the move. CC’s Daiquiris owner Candy Capel is asking the council to reconsider its suspension. Capel has a petition with 600 signatures asking the council to lift the suspension. Patrons can still have alcoholic beverages at outdoor seating at restaurants and bars with the proper liquor license, but they cannot leave the business with the beverage and walk around the entertainment district.
