March is Women's History Month!

Donations for Veterans

The town of Pike Road is collecting personal care items for local veterans.  Pike Road and the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System have teamed up for the drive for the fourth straight year.  Communication Director Mary Catherine Gaston says personal hygiene and winter weather items are needed.  Gaston said a complete list of items can be found online at www.pikeroad.us.  Donations can be dropped off at the Pike Road Town Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The drive ends December 18th. 

New State Representative

Montgomery State Representative-Elect Dimitri Polizos will take the oath of office Thursday.  The former Montgomery County Commissioner and restaurant owner won a special runoff election last month for the House District 74 seat.  He'll replace Jay Love who resigned during the summer. 

ASU Giveaway

One lucky Alabama State University fan walked away with a brand new Chevrolet Spark Wednesday.  Rickey Cooley won the drawing presented by the ASU Theatre Department at the Turkey Day Classic game.  Cooley is the first male to win the annual car giveaway in the six years that the department has hosted the drawing. 

Memorial Service

A funeral will held in the north Alabama town of Arab for country singer and former University of Alabama football player Wayne Mills.  The singer's Facebook page said the memorial service for the 44-year-old Mills was set for Sunday at Arab High School.
