Domestic Violence Leads to Police Standoff

Randolph County authorities say a domestic disturbance led to a standoff with police and eventually the death of the suspect. Deputies were called to a trailer on County Road 7 where the suspect was reportedly holding a hostage. The man exchanged gunfire with police and wounded a Randolph County Deputy. Authorities say the suspect, identified as 76 year old Eli Lee of Wedowee, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The deputy was taken to UAB where he is said to be recovering.  No one else was hurt.
