All-America City

Montgomery has been announced as one of 25 finalists for the All-America City Award.  Each year the National Civic League recognizes those communities that have found inventive solutions to issues that cities face.  Montgomery's Director of Public Information and External Affairs Michael Briddell says the Capital City's entry focuses on a three-pronged approach to overcoming obesity.  Ten municipalities will receive All-America City designations.  Winners will be announced June 15th.

AEA's Fight

The Alabama Education Association is fighting private school tax credits in court and at the ballot box.  The group's PAC has filed a campaign finance report showing it gave $50,000 to Democratic state Senate candidate Taylor Stewart.  Stewart is opposing Republican Sen. Del Marsh, the chief architect of the tax credits.
