Day of Remembrance Ceremony is in Huntsville

Montgomery, AL – (AP) - Alabama's official Day of Remembrance
Ceremony for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is at the U.S. Space
and Rocket Center in Huntsville.
State Homeland Security Director Jim Walker and the director of
the Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives,
Sydney Hoffman, will lead the ceremony, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
Friday.
Gov. Bob Riley won't attend because he's visiting companies in
Europe. But he issued a statement saying Sept. 11 is a time to
honor the men and women who protect the country and a time to
remember the importance of being prepared for any type of disaster
or emergency.
After the ceremony, six-graders attending the state's Be Ready
Camp in Huntsville will practice saving lives during a mock
disaster.
