Court documents show ousted mayor won huge bingo jackpots

By Ex-Birmingham mayor pocketed $1.5 million from Ala casino

Birmingham, AL – - Tax returns filed in a lawsuit show
ousted Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford won 555 electronic bingo
jackpots at the VictoryLand casino and claimed gambling winnings of
$1.5 million over three years.
Langford was convicted of taking bribes from an investment
banker and is to be sentenced Friday in federal court in
Tuscaloosa. Prosecutors filed papers Wednesday asking that the
63-year-old Langford spend at least 24 years in prison.
A new filing in a lawsuit in Greene County includes Langford's
tax records for 2006 through 2008 and show gambling winnings of
about $1.5 million, along with gambling losses of the same amount.
VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor was a frequent contributor to
Langford's campaigns.
Langford tells The Birmingham News, which first reported the tax
records, that he doesn't remember hitting so many jackpots.
