Counties Still in Limbo Over Marriage Licenses

Alabama counties are deciding today whether to allow gay marriage following a federal judge's decision Thursday that forced Mobile County to issue same-sex licenses.  Baldwin County Probate Judge Tim Russell says he will being selling licenses today.  Other probate judges who balked at selling the licenses are weighing the same decision as Russell.  Only about a third of the state's 67 counties have issue same-sex marriage licenses so far.

A Montgomery city official says it will be nearly impossible to find a hotel room in the Montgomery area as the area gets ready for events surrounding the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery March.  Anita Archie is Chief of Staff for Mayor Todd Strange.  She made the comments on WVAS' "Second Thursdays" talk show with Mayor Strange.  

McKenzie Award

A member of the Alabama State University Board of Trustees has been named recipient of the Regions Bank Better Life Award.  Angela McKenzie of Birmingham, an accounting executive at Regions, said she is honored.  Regions donated $1,000 to Junior Achievement of Alabama in Angela McKenzie's name.  She was appointed to the ASU Trustee Board last year.  

Injured Child

Authorities say a child was injured overnight when a sport utility vehicle crashed into an apartment building on Highland Avenue.  Montgomery Fire Rescue and police responded to the crash last night at the Plaza at Centennial Hill Apartment complex.  No additional information has been immediately available regarding the nature of the child's injuries or the circumstances surrounding the crash.
