Montgomery Police and CrimeStoppers need your assistance in identifying two males who walked into the Costco store in Eastchase Tuesday night used a hammer to smash a jewelry case and stole three diamond rings valued at $35,000. Police said the brazen night time theft occurred just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. One of the suspects was described as having a tattoo of a rose behind his left ear. CrimeStoppers say your tip may lead to a cash reward, the number is 215-STOP.
Crimes Investigation
It's been a busy two day period for Montgomery robbery-homicide detectives. Another shooting is under investigation, police say a man working in a convenience store on Mobile Road was shot during an apparent robbery Wednesday afternoon. Montgomery said shooting occurred at a small store in the 1400 block of Mobile Road. The store clerk's injuries are considered life threatening, his medical condition has been unavailable. No arrests were made.
In a separate case, Montgomery Police have a suspect in custody in connection with fatal shooting that happened on Tuesday. 25-year-old Brandon McClain was gunned down outside a gas station near the intersection Lower Wetumpka Road and Forbes Road.
Job Fair
If you are looking for a job or a change in careers, the Montgomery Court Referral program is holding a job fair on Friday at the Armory Learning Arts Center on Madison Avenue, the building is next to Cramton Bowl. Shirley Lee is a court referral officer and she says Friday's job fair has a lot to offer. The Court Referral Program is for non-violent offenders, that is individuals convicted of drug-related crimes or alcohol abuse and helps them change their lives.
Disaster Recovery
Disaster recovery centers have opened in five Alabama counties declared disaster areas. The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the centers operated by FEMA and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency are at the Smiths Station Government Center in Lee County, two sites in Baldwin County, Etowah County, two sites in Jefferson County, and in Athens in Limestone County. The centers are open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The centers are helping people who were victims of the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that hit Alabama in late April and early May.
