Combatting Child Abuse and Neglect

Governor Robert Bentley, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tommy Bice and Department of Human Resources Commissioner Nancy Buckner announced a new online tool Wednesday to combat child abuse and neglect.  The interactive training program provides mandated child abuse reporters, such as teacher and other state employees, a guide on how to report potential abuse and the many subtle signs to look for in children.  Governor Bentley said it is  a valuable asset that will make child abuse easier to report.  The Alabama Department of Human Resources has worked more than 29,000 cases of child abuse in 2013 alone.
