Montgomery, Alabama – GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) - A Baldwin County School Board vote is
expected soon on closing two schools - Vaughn Elementary and the
A vote could come Thursday. The move is to help ease the blow of
state-mandated budget cuts that are costing the local systems
millions of dollars.
Closing the schools is expected to save the board close to $2.5
million next year, according to school board documents.
Vaughn Elementary in Stockton cost the board $1.2 million to
operate in 2008 and the Alternative School in Fairhope just over $1
