By Montgomery Mayor prepares for new job.
Montgomery, Alabama – (Montgomery,AL) Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright made it official; he handed in his resignation effective just before midnight on January 5th.
Bright is leaving the job that he has held for nine years to serve as Alabama's 2nd District Congressman in the United States House of Representatives.
Bright wrote in his letter of resignation,"When first becoming mayor of Montgomery, my gaol was to leave it in better shape than I found it. We have been successful with that endeavor".
City Council President Charles Jinright will be sworn in as interim Mayor of Montgomery today.
