Health insurance provider, Blue Cross Blue Shield is seeking to raise its Affordable Care Act plans by as much as 40 percent. The insurance company released a statement Monday saying in part, that the 2017 proposed rates have been submitted to the Alabama Department of Insurance for its individual and small business plans that are compliant with the Affordable Care Act. The statement also says the proposal does not apply to Blue Cross members with Medicare plans or employer-based plans with more than 50 workers. The potential hike would impact nearly 200,000 people.
